B Team
Well what can I say, not a good day at the office.
Our guys were still celebrating the win by Liverpool when it was time to kick off.
No excuses we were outplayed by a side that used the ball to great effect, giving it to the feet of their team and running at us. The quick movement of the ball caught us out every time and we were punished for it. We didn't make use of having to run down the slope of the pitch, by over hitting the ball and trying to catch it. Ingle Farm used their knowledge of the home ground and continuously played out of defence and found space all to regularly, which led to a shot on goal.
We were suffering in more ways than one and were lucky, thanks to Tom making some very timely saves, only going in 4 - 0 down at half time.
Half time score:- Ingle Farm 4 - 0 Sturt Marion
The second half started slightly better as we tried to conserve energy looking to move up the hill when we could. A first half shoulder injury to Simon had taken it's toll and he was replaced by the return of David Liddiard from overseas, and then Steve Zidov came on for Brenton who was not quite match fit after missing most of the lead up games with an ankle injury.
A minor hint of a Liverpool type come back (very minor ha ha) was we when sent the ball forward and found ourselves in front of the goal, packed with bodies from both teams, when the ball broke free and was hit with anger straight back into the back of the Ingle Farm net by Hayden Cawley.
Now 4 - 1, here we go then lads, for the next 5min's or so we were looking like we could lift our spirits and make some impact but a 5th goal took that away. Our legs were tiring and it was always going to be, how much time left ref? from then on.
All credit to Ingle Farm for playing the game so well adding another 2 goals in the dying minutes for a well deserved 7 - 1 victory.
Elliott never gave up all day and Tom tried to perform miracles in Goal, Graff's and Hayden just couldn't make it happen in midfield and Jez and Big Jim had too many defenders to contend with on the day.
Thanks for being there and making the effort to play after a night out and on mothers day as well.
