B Team
Old Ignatians used the pace of their attacking midfield to support a lone striker and found gaps in a sluggish central defence on numerous occasions.
Play went from end to end without any real strikes on goal from either side giving the keepers little trouble.
Sturt's lead up play was good but their final pass often missed it's target in front of goal.
After soaking up early pressure from Old Ignatians in the first 15 mins. Old Ignatians broke away quickly through the middle when a long ball out to their right wing was picked up by their midfielder and he cut in towards goal. He drew Tom of his line and slid the ball past him from an angle, a slight deflection took the pace of the ball but still enough to take it towards goal. Richie chased it but could only help it into the back of the net after trying to flick it away with the outside of his right foot.
A change at halftime with big Jimmy Stevenson coming on for Dave Liddiard, to try and change the angle of our attacks down the right where Sturt picked up there game and put Old Ignatians under pressure, putting together more good moves but still no direct effort on goal. Adam Gray came on for Damien Chicco who seemed to be struggling to get a touch in this half, and Dave Woodifield on for Simon Patritti late in the half.
Sturt Had strong games from Steve Grafton, Tim Clarke, Jeremy Limbert and John Hamp throughout the game but could not influence a result for us. A game of 3 points lost by us, not won by them.
